Tip Turf Machine

Get the lawnmower ready for the season!

Before the season, it is important to check your lawnmower so that it is ready for work. Here we suggest some maintenance activities that can be done before the season starts.
  • Check the engine oil level.
  • Check the electrolyte level in the battery (if the battery is not maintenance-free).
  • Connect the battery to the electrical system. Start with the plus pole!
  • Lubricate all grease nipples of the machine. If the machine was properly lubricated when it was set up, you can probably skip this step!
  • Check the function of all protective devices or protective functions.
  • Check that the cutting deck blades are synchronized (if the mower is of that type). If the drive belt is toothed, check the toothing. If there are new belts at home, change to new belts. Keep the replaced fault-free belts as a spare.
  • If the cutting units are hydraulically driven, check the hydraulic oil level.
  • Check that the cutting unit is correctly mounted/suspended and that the cutting unit lies parallel to the grass surface (floats) in working position.
  • Test the system's safety sensors for things like the parking brake, driver presence and neutral position for the transmission.
  • Check the condition and air pressure of all the machine's tires.
  • Grass cutting, or the result of grass cutting is sensitive to operational disturbances. To minimize the risk of downtime, be sure to have extra undercarriage, knife blades or hammers with fasteners, belts, fuel filters and engine oil filters at home! No expensive parts to keep on the shelf and can save many hours of cutting.
  • Once the season has started, clean the lawnmower after the work shift!
  • If you are running a cylinder mower make sure the cutting surfaces are sharp and back lapping, sharpen if necessary.
  • Never ever do any maintenance/repair work without first turning off the lawnmower's engine!
  • Secure the raised cutting unit before work is carried out!
